2A filled our marble jar for the second time this year! Each time everyone was making good choices or we received a compliment from a teacher, we earned a marble. The students voted to celebrate with a pajama day, stuffed animal, and a movie. We watched "Zootopia" - a fun movie to enjoy together after our amazing animal projects!!

2A learned about fractions with pizza! Each table group pretended to be a pizza parlor. Then would get "orders" for different types of pizza with different toppings. For example, a pizza with 1/3 pepperoni and 1/3 onions. As their pizza parlors grew in popularity, more orders came in and the orders got trickier! It was a fun way to practice showing fractions.
After learning a lot about animals, doing research, making dioramas, and creating costumes - we had our second grade animal zoo! It was a lot of fun and the students did an AMAZING job! Everyone was so impressed with their sharing and presentation skills. They should be very proud!
2A used play dough and tooth picks to build 3D shapes. This helped us to really see each of the vertices and edges that the shapes have. It was a fun challenge to construct these that required some teamwork! Today we built Leprechaun Traps to prepare for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow! Our traps needed to have 3 things: something to attract a leprechaun, something to outsmart and trap the leprechaun, and it had to be sturdy enough to hold the leprechaun over the weekend until Monday :) After, the class drew diagrams of their traps, labeled them, and wrote about how to build a trap. It was a fun project that required a lot of creativity and teamwork!
