As they grow in their independence, the students have been doing a great job taking responsibility for their learning and serving as leaders within the classroom. Each week, reading groups have "Learning Guide Leaders" who guide their reading group in correcting their own work. This type of reflection is important for our students to grow as scholars and leaders!

After some fun trivia questions about Dr. Seuss at morning assembly, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading the Cat in the Hat and the Lorax - two great books from the wonderfully creative author!
The Second Graders did a beautiful job leading our school in mass on Ash Wednesday! Many teachers complimented our class on their reverence and excellent reading during the mass. They should be very proud! Before mass, we reflected on what the ashes we receive symbolize and drew pictures of ourselves in our Faith Journals. It was a great way to start the Season of Lent.
For Kindness Week, our school had a door decorating contest! 2A reflected on Saint Teresa's saying - "do small things with great love". We thought about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our world. We reflected on the books Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed and Each Kindness to think about many small ways we can show others that we care about them. We put all of these small things together to make a big heart. Check out our door!
For the 100th Day of School, we celebrated by doing some fun station activities. Students thought about what they would look like and what their life would be like when they were 100 years old. They also made 100 glasses and made creative pictures using the digits 1, 0, and 0. It was a fun afternoon to celebrate being 100 days smarter!
