We had a great day at Lookout Farm! We took a mini-train ride, spent time at the play area, looked at some farm animals, and visited the orchard. At the end of the day, every student got a delicious bag of apples! It was a great day!

This week in reading, we read a drama called "The Strongest One" in our Reading Street curriculum. We talked about reading with fluency and expression, as well as projecting our voice when we read out loud. The students each played different roles in the play. They created hats for their characters, practiced their parts, and then we came together to read the play together. The student did an outstanding job!
The students have been working hard during math stations! We work on different activities around the room so that all students can practice math that is just right for them. Students play math games on the computer/iPad, practice math games with classmates, work with a teacher, and do classwork independently at their desks. Math stations are one way that we make learning both fun and challenging!
In social studies, we are learning about our location in the world! Students are working on creating maps of their rooms, homes, and streets. They are working on creating a map with a "bird's eye view" and are practicing labeling to make maps easier to read. This upcoming week, we will use Google Maps to explore our city, state, country, and continent. Last Friday, we celebrated Mr. Jean! Our wonderful custodian who works so hard to keep our school beautiful and clean. We made him a sign that said "Thank your Mr. Jean for making our school sparkle and shine" and each student made a star with a thank you note and picture. We will continue to find ways to show our appreciation for all of his work throughout the year!
